We’re packing our bags and heading over to Cape Town to bring you our 2019 Canon Roadshow. Joining us this year are three fantastic photographers that will be discussing their specific niches as well as tips on exploring them.
Chris Fallows is an internationally renowned marine wildlife photographer. While he is passionate about all marine wildlife, his specialty is Great White Sharks – he has even published a book on this and facilitated many iconic shark films and documentaries over the years. He lives his passion and this will be made quite obvious once you meet him.
Roger Sedres is an internationally acclaimed sports photographer with a career spanning over 29 years. He has covered quite a few Olympic games and even captured Wayde van Niekerk’s world record in the men’s 400m at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Trevor Hardaker considers himself to be a wildlife enthusiast who takes photographs as opposed to a wildlife photographer. He has been involved with the original and second South African Bird Atlas projects, the South African Frog Atlas project and the South African Reptile Conservation Assessment. He is also an avid twitcher and enjoys the adrenaline rush that one gets when you hear the news of a rare bird and the anticipation on the trip there wondering if you are going to be lucky enough to connect with the bird.
2019 Photography Competition
We would also like to use this opportunity to officially announce this year’s photography competition, which will be divided into two categories.
The theme for our first category is Wildlife in Colour. The prerequisite for entrants in this category is that the image submitted should be taken with an interchangeable lens camera. The winner of this category will win an EOS R with RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens.
The theme for our second category is Local Travel. For this category, entrants need to have taken their entry photograph on a compact, point and shoot camera. Entrants should aim at showcasing the hidden gems within the Western Cape. The winner of this category will walk away with an EOS M50 with EFM 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens.
If you think you have what it takes to win, send your photograph to firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, surname, contact details and selected category. Please make sure entries are 3mb or smaller and that you only submit one entry. From all the entries submitted our panel will select 10 finalists per category. The competition closes on 15 November 2019 at 17:00 and the winners will be announced at the Roadshow.
